Green Pea Peel Soup

It is winter and the time when fresh green peas are in season. Sometimes the peels are so succulent you feel like either feeding it to goat or cow yourself or somehow using them in their fresh juicy form. Sometime back I had heard that some portion of succulent green pea peels were used by some people to make a sabzi. I used them in a soup.

Ingredients

8 cups of succulent green pea peels,
1 small chopped onion,
1 tbsp of olive oil,
2 cups of skimmed milk,
Salt to taste,
Powdered black peppercorns,
1 tbsp of green peas

Method

Wash the green pea peels well. Snip off the ends and retain only the central juicy bit.

Heat the olive oil in a pressure cooker and add the chopped onion and sauté till it softens. Add the green peas and the green pea peels, sauté for some time and add the skimmed milk and about 3 cups of water. Cook on high heat till you get one whistle.

Let cool naturally and grind it in the mixer. Strain out the soup and discard the residue.

Boil the soup and add salt and pepper. Serve warm.
