Dry Fruit Halwa
When you have a husband who always craves for some meetha after a meal, you always are on the lookout for sweets which can be made at home and don’t have too many processed ingredients. This dry fruit halwa is filled with the goodness of nuts and is mildly sweet but it satisfies the sweet tooth. I made it a fortnight ago I think and is long gone…but posting here for my own record.
Ingredients
100 grams each of coarsely ground
cashews, walnuts, almonds and pistachios,
¾ of a cup of milk,
300 grams of sugar,
400 grams of khoya,
50 grams of raisins,
1 cup of ghee,
1 teaspoon of powdered green cardamom seeds
Method
Heat the ghee and fry the khoya
stirring all the time till it turns a light brown. Keep aside. Boil the milk
and add the sugar. Stir till the sugar dissolves.
Remove from heat and mix well
with the khoya. Add the dry fruits, raisins and cardamom powder. Mix well. Spoon
this into a greased plate and smoothen with a flat spoon.
Cut into diamond shaped pieces and
serve.
This Dry Fruit Halwa recipe looks absolutely delightful! The detailed steps make it seem easy to follow, even for those new to cooking sweets. I love how you bring out the traditional flavors, similar to the way we savor classic Kerala recipes like Karimeen Mappas. It’s wonderful to see how both sweet and savory dishes celebrate our rich culinary heritage. Looking forward to trying this soon!
