Stuffed Lauki


1 small bottle gourd,
100 gms paneer,
2 green chillies,
1 tbsp coriander leaves,
½ tsp garam masala powder,
Salt to taste,
½ tsp turmeric powder,
½ tsp cumin seeds,
1 tbsp ghee


Grate the paneer and mix it with the chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves, garam masala powder and salt to taste.

Peel the bottle gourd and wash it. Cut slices from the top and bottom of the lauki. Scoop out the pith and seeds of the lauki using a sharp knife till you get a hollow cylinder. Stuff it with the paneer mixture. Fix the top and bottom slices using toothpicks.

Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds. When they pop add the stuffed lauki and fry it for 2 minutes turning gently. Next pour in ½ cup water mixed with salt and turmeric powder. If you have the stuffing left over, you can add that too. Cook for 3 whistles. Open immediately.

Remove the tooth picks and slice and serve.
