Dry Fruit Halwa
Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye…
Ingredients
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts,
½ cup coarsely chopped cashewnuts,
½ cup raisins,
1 litre full fat milk (you can also use 150
grams of khoya instead),
200 grams sugar,
1.5 tsp ghee,
Desiccated coconut
Method
Lightly toast the chopped cashewnuts.
Heat one teaspoon of ghee in a non-stick
pan and pour in the milk. Cook till the milk evaporates stirring constantly and
is almost dry. If using khoya, just bhuno the khoya for sometime.
Now add the sugar and cook till the sugar
is dissolved. Add the nuts and raisins and mix well.
Grease a steel plate with the remaining
ghee and pour the mixture on the plate. Flatten it with the bottom of a small
katori. Cool in the refrigerator. Once cool, cut into desired shapes with a
sharp knife. If it is too sticky dredge the pieces in desiccated coconut. The photograph has the
undredged version as after dredging all you can see is the desiccated coconut.
